It’s May Day!

Oh happy May Day.

Fresh flowers, bright colors, and spring sensations at the table ~ this is my idea of the first of May.

Remember those days of surprising a neighbor with a beautiful May Day bouquet by leaving the flowers on the doorstep, ringing the bell, and running away?

I haven’t done that since I was a little girl, but I still love the idea.

There’s just something about sweet little surprises…

Speaking of ~ Baby Romanesco!!!

What a great little “sweet surprise.” I had no idea that these precious gems were available as baby-sized, teacup treasures.

Oh, and Meyer Lemons are still on the table.

Baby Romanesco and Meyer Lemon Purée

3 baby romanesco
1 Meyer lemon, peeled (pith and all), pureed in the blender
1 Tbs. sorrento orange olive oil
black sea salt

Steam the whole baby romanesco for 3-5 minutes, until soft. Drizzle with the lemon puree and top with remaining ingredients.

Simply and surprisingly sweet.
