Enough with the burgers already!

Burgers again for dinner?

Seriously, another hamburger?

We’re grilling burgers again tonight?

I already had a burger this week for lunch…

Oh man, this is the best burger ever!!!

Cherry Basil Bison Burger-010

It always is ~ the “best burger ever,” that is.

We are burger pros and I’m filled with ideas.

Salty, sweet, and a little spicy this one proves to be –

Sweet cherries and basil, hearty and lean ground bison, a dash of cayenne, and even a hint of blue cheese for those who are willing.

Cherry Basil Bison Burgers

1 lb. organic ground beef (85% lean works best) – grass fed is good too
1 cup fresh sweet cherries, pitted and chopped
1/4 cup fresh basil, thinly sliced
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/8 tsp. fresh ground pepper
2 oz. smokey blue (bleu) cheese, broken into small chunks (optional)

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
Combine all the ingredients and gently mix together for uniformity, careful not to break the cherries or smear the cheese everywhere.
Form into 3-4 equal patties.
Grill each burger for about 3-5 minutes. Flip. Cook an additional 3-4 minutes, until medium, medium-rare.

Serve atop fresh spinach (or a bun), as well as alongside Butter Basil Roasted Beets and Cherries.**

**Butter Basil Roasted Beets and Cherries

3 large beets
1 Tbs. Kerrygold butter
1 tsp. honey
2 tsp. fresh basil, thinly sliced
sea salt and pepper
1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and chopped

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Clean and scrub the beats well. Cut into 1/2″ chunks.
Combine with butter, honey, fresh basil, and plenty of salt and pepper.
Roast, uncovered, in a glass baking dish, for about 40 minutes, stirring every so often, until the beets are soft. Add the cherries and roast for an additional 5-10 minutes.
