Apparently this drink is really referred to as:

“The Irish Maid”

I searched and searched in an effort to discover the truth behind this conniving name. All I was able to uncover was that the recipe was adapted from a cocktail created by Jack McGarry at The Dead Rabbit in NYC.

Hmmmm…

Well, my beloved hubby, Brian, simply loves this drink in the summertime. Sour and sweet, it’s hard to imagine the base spirit to be Irish Whisky: Jameson.

But it is…

…and it’s amazingly bright and delicious.

All of that said, after one or two…the name changes in his mind from The Irish Maid to ~

~ The Iron Maiden

Oh, how I love this man of mine!

The Iron Maiden

2 slices cucumber (muddled)
2 oz. Jameson Black Irish Whisky
1/2 oz. St. Germain Elderflower liqueur
1 oz. Lemon Simple Syrup
1-3 slices cucumber (garnish)

In a shaker, muddle the cucumber slices. Add remaining ingredients and fill shaker with ice. Shake vigorously, and fine-strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with ice (or not, in this case). Garnish with a cucumber slice, or two or three.
