I really like to start off my mornings with something warm.

Yes, coffee, of course!

But after that, I still long for something hot and toasty to soothe both my belly and my soul.

I also crave protein –

– but with that yearning for warmth, strength, and energy, sometimes it’s just nice to have a little bit of a not so typical sweet treat amid my surplus of savory sunrises.

Vanilla Maple Mug Cake

Say hello to “Beatrice” our morning owl.

Vanilla Protein Custard

1 tsp. coconut oil, melted
1/2 medium banana, mashed
1/4 cup vanilla protein powder – with greens, hence the slimy grimy color
1 tsp. raw honey (optional – depending upon the sweetness of the protein powder)
1/4 tsp. vanilla salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender. Puree until smooth. Transfer to a smallish size mug and microwave for 60 seconds. Alternatively, you may bake in the oven at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes.
