If you’re a regular reader, you know I’ve been delving into the world of cocktails.
I’ll never give up my sommelier certification and passion for wine ~ and I’ll continue to educate myself on a daily basis in that arena, but I’ll still stand behind my bar (or kitchen counter) and experiment to no end with this new little hobby I’ve discovered.

bitters or tonic is traditionally an alcoholic preparation flavored with botanical matter such that the end result is characterized by a bitter, sour, or bittersweet flavor. Numerous longstanding brands of bitters were originally developed as patent medicines, but are now sold as digestifs and cocktail flavorings.

A few months back, while experimenting with a bartender friend of mine, she had her own homemade bitters, consisting of a vanilla and a lavender flavor. The combination of these two manifested itself into the BEST martini on earth. Yes, it was that good.

2 oz. Lee Spirits Dry Gin
1 splash dry vermouth
2 drops lavender tonic
2 drops vanilla tonic
Served up with a twist

I just had to do this for myself at home.

I definitely wanted my bitters to be “safe.” After all, these are precious little gems in the world of spirits and cocktails. And, after a 30 day waiting period, there was no way (and is no way) I’m going to risk a mistake…right? I take these things seriously!

Thus, Infinity Jars

Infinity Jars can actually slow down the decaying process of organic matter while maintaining the freshness of whatever you put inside. What sets Infinity Jars apart from all other jars is that it blocks out all harmful visible light rays while selectively ALLOWING infrared and UV-A rays.
Infinity Jars’ special pigmented glass is thicker and more durable than your standard glass; it is smell-proof, blocks harmful UV light and is visually discreet. Furthermore, all of our jar lid systems, the screwtop and glass-on-glass lid, are completely airtight. Your products are totally protected, preserved much like ancient Egyptians- who invented deep violet glass thousands of years ago and preserved precious oils and herbs for centuries in tombs. The integrity of your lotions, essential oils or spices is guaranteed to be protected for over 6 months when you use our products!

Now that’s pretty great.
I found the RIGHT jars this time!!

And after 30 days of shaking, and waiting in the deep, dark depths of my kitchen cupboards, the magic happened.

My “rough” recipes for the botanical brilliance:

Lavender-Ginger-Cardamom:
1 Tbs. lavender
2 tsp. fresh ginger
1 tsp. cardamom
1 lemon peel
6 oz. Everclear (100 proof vodka)

Vanilla-Clove-Cacao:
1 vanilla bean, split
1 tsp. cacao
1 tsp. clove
6-8 oz. Everclear

Earl Grey-Orange:
2 Earl Grey tea bags
1 tsp. dried orange peel
8 oz. Everclear

Allow each mixture to sit in glass jars, stored in a cool dark place, for about 30 days.
Strain.
Store in pigmented glass jars to protect the integrity of your botanicals.

Enjoy.
