Avocado Mousse is one of my favorite ways to both magically surprise staunch fruit and veggie eschewers, and to gently “trick” them just a little bit.

You see, raw avocado mousse tastes nothing like the creamy goddess green fruit (often confused for a veggie). It also tastes no where near healthy ~ masquerading as mere magnificence.

Typically I simplify the vegan dessert with just the addition of chocolate, a little sweet, and a little salt to round things out.

This time, as I catered another themed dinner at the house, I really wanted to jazz it up a bit, add some spice, add some zest, and send us all through the roof with flavor.

Don’t tell anyone its avocado…until the end…and watch them reel 🙂

Spiced Avocado Mousse & Blood Orange Cinnamon Cream

Avocado Mousse:
3 ripe avocados
1 cup Artisana Organics Hazelnut Cacao Spread
1/4 cup Easy Blackcurrant Jam
1/4 cup fresh blood orange juice

1/4 tsp. ground cloves
pinch of salt

Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and whir until smooth – using the “jamming” tool to mix and fully incorporate. This mousse should be thick and rich.

Blood Orange Cinnamon Cream:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 Tbs. fresh blood orange juice
1 tsp. raw honey
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

Whip all ingredients together until thick, but not quite standing.

Dollop the cream over the mousse and serve in gorgeous, decorative coupes.
