Grape Blueberry Salad
I seem to be conquering the alliterations as of late ~
As a child, my favorite grapes were the green ones. They seemed to be a perfect addition to a brown bag lunch eaten in the school cafeteria, or even a great outdoor afternoon snack. As I’ve grown and evolved, so have my taste buds and flavor preferences, and these days I would choose a seedless red grape over the green balloon-like bulb of fruit in a heartbeat.
Needless to say, there can be a place for bringing sophistication and flair into an old childhood flavor favorite.
Green Grape Goodness
2 lbs. green seedless grapes, halved
2 cups fresh blueberries
¾ cup freshly chopped basil
2 Tbs. raw honey
2 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
The unique taste of the green grapes, the universal favorite flavor of blueberries, matched with the sweetness of honey and vanilla, savory, and aromatic basil, as well as the tang of feta are utterly refreshing on a summer afternoon.
