Basic Sugar Cookies
Happy Thanksgiving!
May your day be brilliant, full of gratitude and thanks, loving family and friends, and perhaps some homemade sugar cookies.
Basic Sugar Cookies
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1 cup butter, softened to almost a melt
1 cup cane sugar
1 egg
1 Tbs. milk
Place butter and sugar in the large bowl of an electric stand mixer and beat until light in color. Add egg and milk and beat to combine.
Then, on low speed, gradually add flour, 1/2 cup at a time.
Mix until a dough ball begins to form. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Between two sheets of parchment paper, roll out dough to 1/4-inch thick pieces.
Cut into desired shapes, placing at least 1″ apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake for about 10 minutes, or until cookies are just beginning to turn brown around the edge.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before moving to a wire rack.
Serve as is or ice as desired.
