Creamy Dill, Sweet Potato, & Sausage Sauté

I remember growing up, a “social treat” was Dip-Idy Dill “dip.” Creamy, delicious, perfect for ANYTHING.

Mom never really “cheated” in the kitchen, but this spice mix made everything easier and better.

Now that I’ve reclaimed my love for dill weed, I am able to skip the packaging (sorry Dip-Idy Dill) and recreate my own version of Mom’s treat seasoning, mixed with sautéed sweet potato and Italian sausage.

Umm… YUM! 🤤

Creamy Dill, Sweet Potato, & Sausage Sauté

2 tsp. dill seed
1 1b. Italian Sausage
1 lb. sweet potato, peeled and chopped
sea salt and pepper
1 1/2 cups Creamy Dill Dip*

In a large skillet, dry toast the dill seeds until fragrant.

Add the ground sausage meat and brown until the fat begins to render, breaking apart with the back of a wooden spoon or spatula.

Once the fat has been released, add the sweet potato chunks, and salt and pepper.

Cover, stirring occasionally, until the sausage is cooked through and the sweet potatoes are somewhat soft.

Remove from heat and stir in the Creamy Dill Dip.

*Creamy Dill Dip
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
sea salt and pepper, to taste

In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 to 2 hours before serving.
