Fresh Tomato Balsamic Hatch Green Chile Sauce
With freshly roasted Hatch green chiles and still vibrant Heirloom tomatoes from the garden, this sweet and spicy Fresh Balsamic Hatch Green Chile Sauce serves as an amazing condiment for anything and everything.
Fresh Tomato Balsamic Hatch Green Chile Sauce
2 Tbs. butter
4-5 large heirloom tomatoes
sea salt and pepper
4 oz. Hatch green chiles, roasted, peeled, and diced
1 Fresno chile, minced
1 Tbs. balsamic reduction
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
Chop the tomatoes and add to the melted butter.
Increase to high heat and bring to a boil.
Season with salt and pepper.
Reduce heat to a simmer and reduce the “sauce” until the tomatoes break down – help the breakdown by smashing the chopped tomatoes with the back of a spoon. This process can take up to 20 minutes. Add the Fresno chile.
As the sauce thickens, stir in the green chiles and balsamic reduction.
Remove from heat and add to anything or everything – or just consume all on its lonesome.
