Inside Out Egg, Cheese, Orange Marmalade Sandwich
There’s breakfast, and then there’s breakfast with swagger. This Inside Out Egg, Cheese, and Orange Marmalade Sandwich is what happens when a grilled cheese meets an omelet and decides to get fancy. Think crispy, buttery sourdough hugging molten sharp cheddar and a swipe of sweet, citrusy marmalade — all wrapped in golden, tender egg. It’s messy in the best way, rich without apology, and guaranteed to ruin all other breakfast sandwiches for you.
So go ahead — make a little chaos in your kitchen. Let the butter sizzle, let the marmalade drip, and don’t worry about the perfect fold. This isn’t a dainty brunch bite; it’s a golden, sticky, soul-satisfying sandwich that hits all the right notes — sweet, salty, rich, and bright. Eat it hot, with coffee in hand and zero regrets.
Inside Out Egg, Cheese, Orange Marmalade Sandwich
2 slices of homemade sourdough bread
3 large eggs, whisked
2 Tbs. salted butter
2 oz. sharp, white cheddar cheese, thickly sliced
3 Tbs. orange marmalade
Preheat a cast-iron skillet to medium–high heat.
Melt the butter in the hot skillet. Meanwhile, whisk together the 3 large eggs.
Pour the egg mixture into the seasoned, hot skillet.
Place each slice of homemade bread in the simmering eggs.
Top with the sharp cheese, dividing between each slice.
Slather each side of the cheese topped sandwich with orange marmalade.
Season with freshly ground pepper and extra salt, if desired.
Fold over the bread cooked in egg, like and omelet, and fold over the edges, creating a perfect pocket egg sandwich.
Transfer to a plate to slice and serve.
