Melting Snowman Cookies
While Christmas cookies are all about this time of year, I was actually flattered to be invited to my first cookie exchange party.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but I made the cookies anyway- Melted Snowmen Cookies on double dark chocolate cookie bases.
The recipe is rather easy, but the process is time-consuming. Isn't that the way with all Christmas cookies?
Enjoy the spirit of the season and all the snowmen in your life!
Melting Snowman Cookies
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large bowl, beat shortening and peanut butter with a mixer on medium to high 30 seconds. Beat in both sugars, baking powder, salt, and baking soda until combined, scraping sides of bowl as needed.
Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla until combined. Beat in cocoa powder and as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour.
Shape dough into twenty 1-inch balls. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake until edges are just firm, 9 to 11 minutes.
Cool on cookie sheets for 2 minutes.
Remove; cool on wire racks.
Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Place cooled cookies on
COOL 2 minutes
Microwave white candy melts at 50% powder for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat. Stir again.
Pour over the cooling chocolate cookies to form the melting snowmen.
Next, while the frosting is still tacky, add the halved peanut butter cup sliks halves and Hershey's Kisses halves to the fronts of the cookies, like hats.
Then, decorate with chocolate sprinkles for the eyes and orange sprinkles for the carrot nose of the snowman.
Cool thorougholy before attempting to move and serve.
