Herbed Alouette Amuse‑Gueule — Simple, Elegant Appetizer Bites
An amuse‑gueule (a single, bite-sized, complimentary hors d'oeuvre served by the chef before a meal – or in our case, AS a meal) can be undeniably charming for company or just at home for “US,” feeling both effortless and refined. These Herbed Alouette Puff Pastry Bites deliver exactly that. Piping cool, creamy herbed Alouette into tiny puff pastry shells, letting the cheese settle into all those flaky little layers, then topping each one with a jewel‑bright slice of sweety pepper for a pop of color and sweetness makes me smile – and will surely deliver the effect of raised mouth corners to your face too!
They are perfect for an appetizer spread — salumi flowers, peach blossoms, and glossy cherries arranged together like a tiny edible bouquet. The whole plate feels playful and celebratory, the kind of appetizer that invites people to lean in, nibble, and smile.
Perfect for brunch boards, cocktail hour, or any moment that calls for a bite-sized bit of beauty.
Herbed Alouette Amuse‑Gueule
1 pkg. frozen pastry shells, thawed
1 tub. Vegetable herbed Alouette cheese, room temperature
½ cup sweetie peppers
3 oz. salami
1 large peach, thinly sliced
6 fresh Bing cherries
kosher salt
fresh herbs
Fill one pastry piping bag with a rosette tip with the room temperature cheese.
Pipe the cheese into each puff pastry shell – reserving some for the salami rose to come.
Top each pastry shell with a sweetie pepper.
Fold several slices of salami over the rim of a small cup. Invert to create a charcuterie flower.
Fill with piped cheese rosettes and sweetie peppers, if desired.
Form peach rosettes from the thinly sliced peaches.
Place all items on a beautiful charcuterie tray and top with fresh cherries and chopped herbs.
Serve with hearty crackers, wine, and cocktails.
Enjoy.
