Brian has profound admiration for Dan Ariely.
I find it pretty cute – And, it only makes sense.

They enjoy observing the same types of things: the brain, behavior, thought…behavioral economics.
Both of these men convey the characteristics of genius.
They are motivated and motivating.
Both men are inspired and inspiring.

I truly hope they meet some day.

Brian told me Dan doesn’t know how to properly consume kale.
He told me he heard him discuss on a podcast all the raw kale he receives in his CSA box. And, he’s just not sure how to cook it – to make it taste right!

So many people poo-poo the power of kale.
And, it’s not just the power that’s enticing – it’s utterly delicious – when you cook it “right!”

Here you go, Dan. Try your next batch of kale prepared in your new favorite way: Sweet Sake Kale & Cashews.

Sweet Sake Kale & Cashews

2 Tbs. olive oil
1 small shallot, finely chopped
5 cups raw kale, stemmed and chopped
sea salt and pepper
1/4 cup apple juice
2 Tbs. agave nectar
2 Tbs. sake or mirin
1/2 cup roasted cashews

Heat the oil in a giant skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add the chopped kale and sea salt and pepper.
Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes.
The kale will be bright green.
Add the apple juice, agave, and sake (or mirin).
Increase the heat to high, and cook until most of the liquid is absorbed.

Transfer to a serving plate and top with roasted cashews.

Sweet, salty, creamy, nutty, savory – it’s everything we all need in our lives. More please.
