Happy SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!

Over the years, as I think about it, I’ve planned and participated in watching the famous Super Bowl Game Day commercials many a time. (I’ve actually planned much more often than following through – ). But there has rarely been a day when I actually sat and watched the game. Whether it be a social gathering with friends (aka: party) or these days, the distraction of Instagram and Facebook, I cannot seem to focus my attention on the game, or even the commercials.

And, you know, when you’re at a party, food comes into play as well (did you like that pun?). Meaning, it IS a distractor – another form of entertainment.

I certainly don’t want to compete with the teams for the big game, nor do I qualify myself as up to snuff with the commercials, BUT, do you know what you’re serving this afternoon?

Perhaps some Cheddar Bacon Chive Puff Pinwheels.

Everyone loves bacon.

Cheddar Bacon Chive Puff Pinwheels

1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
12 slices bacon
6 slices sharp cheddar cheese
fresh chives, chopped

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Roll out the puff pastry so it is a little larger that it was coming out of the box.

Slice into six long sections. Slice the cheese in half and line each pastry section with two half slices of cheese. Top with two slices of bacon.
Roll up into a pinwheel and place into empty muffin cups (tin).

Bake for about 30 minutes, until the bacon is crispy and the pastry is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool before topping with freshly chopped chives.
