Of course I’ve been a fan of sweet and savory for a lifetime.
Who isn’t, really?
(Well, the hubby insists on no sweet in his savory dinner – but I, personally am always okay with a hint of cinnamon to go with basil and other spices!)

While traveling for a month in France, and trolling the grocery aisles for a simple dinner, I came across (discovered, developed, etc.) my best concoction yet: cheese and nut butter! Yep, add some fresh fruit to that and then chocolate to the ensemble you truly do have a symphony! My all time favorite – in fact, my daily routine!

Those who know me well understand I eat about my body weight in cheese, almond butter, and apples on a daily basis! 😂

While this simply sweet, savory, and tart recipe for Cheddar Graham Apple Peanut Butter Pie lacks the bittersweet crunch of dark chocolate, feel free to sprinkle your own chips across the top! Unbelievable!

This recipe makes enough for two, full-sized pies.

Crust:
12 oz. Cheez-It crackers, processed into a fine crumb
9 oz. graham crackers, processed into a fine crumb
8 Tbs. butter, room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar

Apple Peanut Butter Filling:
4 Tbs. butter
2 lbs. tart apples, roughly chopped and seeded

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup smooth peanut butter
1/2 tsp. sea salt

1 1/2 cups honey roasted peanuts

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Using a food processor, combine all the crust ingredients until crumbly and press into the bottom of 2 large pie plates.

Melt the butter in a large Dutch oven over low heat. Add the apples and stir occasionally, mostly covered, until the apples begin to break down and soften. Add the sugars, peanut butter, and salt. Reduce heat to barely a simmer, stirring in the peanut butter and sugars until smooth and soft.

Fill each crust with 1/2 the filling.

Bake for 25 minutes, or so.

Remove from the oven. Allow to cool and set and top with peanuts (and chocolate chips!)
